Seve was simply inspirational

A few words on the passing of Seve

Seve: A lot has been said and digested over the past week or so on the late great Severiano Ballesteros, I do not mean to jump on any bandwagon, but I wanted to add just a few of my own words.

It is amazing now how when a person who has been in the media spotlight passes it makes you stop and think and question your own mortality. Celebs you have no general interest in following can put thoughts in your mind. I wonder how many stopped when they heard the demise of Seve?

To most sporting fans, Seve was an inspirational figure. For my Golfing generation he inspired not just golfers but people, including the majority of the current Golfers on the main Pro tours.

I remember seeing him on UK TV in the 80’s. Probably on one of the BBC stations watching the infectious Spaniard challenging the stuffy Golf world. Back then there was not many channels to watch as there was no sky, internet or cable, so the viewing public would have been much higher and across the board rather than just dedicated Golf nuts.
Nowadays of course TV is diluted with a plethora of channels to watch, so you can imagine the many hearts, minds and souls the mercurial Spaniard touched.

If you look across all Sports of course there are superstar individuals and teams that come along from time to time that are just “special”. There are not that many individuals that are remembered or affectionately called by just one name either. I personally think that this makes you realise that they were something simply “special.”

Seve, Pele, Shcumacher, are just a few examples of this across sport… adios senor, it was a pleasure to be entertained, you will be missed.
