A relaxing day out at the Dubai World Championship

Dubai World Championship is a great place to be

Poulter still leads… it is only a short little note tonight. Today I had a little bit of a different afternoon taking a break from the media center. With some of my family here for a holiday, I spent some time with them and actually saw some Golf as a laid back Dubai World Championship spectator. So you could say I had a lazy day taking in some of the sights and sounds of the tournament.

I spent a few hours just relaxing in one of the many picnic areas on the course, watching some great golf as several of the holes interjected. Within a few hundred yards I could see the players coming down the 5th taking their approach and then walking 80 yards to the par 3, 6th (which was a shot over the lake where Schwartzel got the hole in one on the first days play).
If that was not enough, if I just turned around 180 degrees and walked about 40 yards I could watch the Pro’s direct from behind, looking up the fairway on the 9th Tee. Does it get better than this for a Golfing fan?

During the afternoon, I spent some time wandering around the village and soaking up the atmosphere and sun. I had to go and look at the trick shot Artist David (who i am interviewing tomorrow). His show was very funny and a great addition to the entertainment that was put on for the visitors.

The closeness to the players, laid back atmosphere and feeling of watching Golf in the UAE seems to be a completely different experience to many other parts of the world.
If you are a Golfing fan you must try and add 1 thing to your bucket list, which is to try and get out here to one of the Golfing events at some point in your life.

Meanwhile, the days play was another interesting one. The final pairings were a toss of a coin for who to follow and some great golf was played. Poulter ended up in front and he looked and sounded extremely focused on delivering a second consecutive win, but there are many others aiming to stop that happening.

Really looking forward to the final days play and to get back in the media room to finish work on a special feature on the Dubai World Championship that I have been compiling ;-)
