A few tips and information to help you if you’re planning to Travel to the DP World Tour Championship.

It’s crazy to think that the DP World Tour Championship turned 10 last year (2018). This event has firmly established itself as one of the top sporting weekends (if not the best) in Dubai and the Emirates. Not only competing against but outshining the established Dubai Rugby Sevens and Dubai World Cup as one of the places to be.

About the DP World Tour Championship
Originally the European Tour’s flagship event was called the Dubai World Championship and has always been held at Jumeirah Golf Estates venue on the wonderful Earth Course.
The DPWTC is the culmination of the whole Race to Dubai season ending with one final event here at the excellent JGE facility.

Location and Surrounding area
Jumeirah Golf Estates is located in ‘New Dubai‘ just behind Dubai Production City and just past The Els Club Dubai and Victory Heights development (other side of the road). It’s easily accessible by taxi and cars.

Places to Stay around Jumeirah Golf Estates
The JGE development itself is mainly surrounded by Villas and some small low rise buildings. There are apartments and blocks in Dubai Production City and close by in smaller areas. There is only a few Hotels that are actually close by the area and they are hard to find space for when the tournament is on.
Dubai Sports City has many medium-rise buildings with apartments and within Victory Heights there are villas. Other areas of note within a few KM of the venue are Jumeirah Village Triangle / Circle, Motor City, Green Community and Dubai Investments Park. All of these have mixed building types and varying transport.

Transport for the event
Obviously, the Hotels that are close will be booked very early and will be hard to secure a place. If you stay further away you only have to arrive in a taxi, shuttle or bus direct to the venue.
