Rakess Tee Off Their Golfing Journey With Al Hamra Golf Club

Under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qassimi, Crown Prince of Ras Al Khaimah, Al Hamra Golf Club has undertaken a 12 week ‘Introduction to Golf’ program within the Ras Al Khaimah English Speaking School (Rakess).

It is the vision of H.H to begin a program which introduces golf to the Ras Al Khaimah community at a grass roots level helping to plant the seeds for future generations allowing children of all nationalities and backgrounds to gain exposure to the game of golf.

General Manager, Simon Mees, said: “We are delighted that his H.H has decided to support this initiative to take golf into the schools. Let’s hope that this program will continue to grow within Ras Al Khaimah to help build and promote long term development of the game within the Emirate”.

Al Hamra Golf Club Professionals, Ross McArthur and Karl Rowe, will be presenting golf to the children of Year 4 over the next 12 weeks, giving every child the opportunity to learn golf in a fun and relaxed environment during their school day. The program consists of various skill sets and fundamentals required from putting, chipping to the full swing whilst helping to develop the children’s confidence and personal skills.

Golf Professional, Ross McArthur, who is responsible for the programs organization and implementation said: “we have thought about initiatives of a similar kind in the past and thanks to the support of H.H this year we have managed to launch the scheme. Golf is the best sport in the world for helping youngsters develop their social skills from self discipline, honesty and integrity all whilst providing them with a fun and healthy activity which can be enjoyed for many years to come. Although it is early stages of this scheme we hope to implement this program as a permanent fixture of the school curriculum with children able to take what they’ve learnt further by joining the Young Masters Golf Program which we offer at Al Hamra Golf Club.”
