The Harradine Cup 2010 at Al Hamra Golf Club

The 5th of November not only saw fireworks in the sky but also out on Al Hamra’s Golf Course as the annual Harradine Cup took centre stage in the finest golfing weather of the new season so far.

The tournament was once again sponsored and supported by Dubai based golf course architect Peter Harradine and his Harradine Golf and Orient Irrigation companies.

A count back over the last 9 holes was required to resolve the second and third place finishers as old Al Hamra member Nigel Sale, Marty Brown and Michael Harradine all returned on the excellent score of 38 points. Claiming third place was Michael Harradine who has become a regular visitor to the winner’s podium following his recent victory in the Shaikh Rashid Trophy. Harradine playing off a +2 index carded a new amateur course record of 68 to score 38 stableford points and in the process marked his card with an ace with his first ever hole-in-one at the Par 3, 15th hole. Despite a shaky start over the first few holes Marty Brown  held his game together to record 38 points and win the card countback to secure overall second place. Brown ripped it around the back nine as he amassed 22 points, a run which included two gross birdies at holes 10 and 13 through Al Hamra’s very own version of Amen Corner.

The overall winner and Harradine Cup champion, Sergy D’Souza, claimed his award in style as he beat the rest of the field by a clear point. D’Souza continued his glittering form in Open Tournaments at Al Hamra Golf Club as he reeled off nines of 21 and 19 points. The highlights of his round were 11 gross pars and a gross birdie 2 on the par 3, 4th hole. In such scintillating form D’Souza will be challenging at the top of many leaderbaords this season

The 2010 Harradine Cup Champion Sergy D’Souza said: “The course is in fantastic nick and fortunately I managed to hold my game together to make the most of the glorious conditions. Thanks must go to my playing partners and to the sponsors for today’s event whose contributions have made it a thoroughly enjoyable and exciting day.”

“Al Hamra Golf Club is exceptionally proud of its continued relationship with Harradine Golf and Orient Irrigation who have once again sponsored and supported this flagship tournament and we extend our special thanks to Peter Harradine for his continued involvement,” said Andrew Pilfold.
