Young Rayyan Al Maazmi Dominates UAE National Monthly Medal

Rayyan Al Maazmi wins his first National Monthly Medal at Al Hamra Golf Club

Rayyan Al Maazmi: On January 26th, 2019, the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) hosted the January National Monthly Medal at Al Hamra Golf Club. Over 45 United Arab Emirates (UAE) national golfers gathered to compete in the first National Monthly Medal of 2019. At this month’s event, there were four different divisions, a Par 3 Division, a Juniors Division, the Main Event Division, and the newly added Senior Division.

Three young golfers from the UAE National Junior Team dominated this month’s event. Winning his first National Monthly Medal was youngster Rayyan Al Maazmi. Playing off a 24 handicap, Rayyan had a fantastic round of golf collecting a total of 48 Stableford Points.

Finishing as the Runner-Up for the event was Majid Looth with 37 points and coming in Third Place was with a total of 36 Stableford Points was Obaid Al Heloo.

Men’s National Team Member, Ahmed Skaik collected the Best Gross prize by shooting a 74, 2-over-par.

Starting the New Year the EGF added a Senior Division, a new division for those who are 50 years of age or older. Mr. Jalal Abbasi won the Senior Division. Abbasi collected 34 points.

Awards were also given based on handicap with an A-Division (0-14 handicap) and B-Division (14-24 handicap) winners. Winning the A-Division Prize was Akram Skaik with 33 Stableford Points. Dr. Rabab Al Haj won the Division-B prize with 32 Stableford Points.

In the Junior Division, the EGF had 12 juniors compete for the top three spots. Coming in first place was Abdullah Saeed Al Suwaidi with 39 points. Finishing in Second Place was Sultan Al Jassmey with 38 points and rounding off the top-three was Humaid Saeed Al Suwaidi with 33 points.

During the event, the EGF hosted 12 members of the National Foundation Squad on the Academy Par 3 Course. The winner of the Par 3 Division was Mohammed Ahmed after a card playoff. Mohammed fired an impressive 37 gross score.

The Runner-up for the Par 3 Division was Aysha Al Almualla with a 37 gross score and Rafea Al Owais finished in Third Place with a 38 gross score.

The event also had two “On Course Challenges” up for grabs. Taking home the Longest Drive Award was Ahmed Skaik. Winning the Nearest to the Pin Award was Obaid Al Heloo.

The next event will be the UAE Presidents Cup with will be held on the 8th and 9th of February at Yas Links Abu Dhabi
