Day 3 goes by on the final leg of the Race to Dubai

Could Quiros claim the trophy?

It has been a strange day today, after scratching my shins for a couple of hours just to make my bites bigger (don’t you hate that) my attention turned to the Golf. There were some times today that it felt a little subdued, but to be honest that could be excused as Rory’s charge failed to materialize with Quiros extending his lead with Donald playing so immaculately.
Some good golf was being played out there though by the others though and I hope it was not missed. The top of the board usually shows quality and it does after today’s rounds.

As I mentioned above Rory just didn’t fire today, he looks like a rest will do him good after a draining successful year. Quiros though kept his nose in front with a real mixed bag of scoring which included 4 Birdies, 1 Eagle and 4 bogies with 2 of the bogies coming on the first and last. This round reminded me in a way of the scrambling magic one he produced at the Classic earlier in the year to help him win the tournament (which included shooting out of a tree!)

Day one leader Lawrie came back today with another good round of 66 including an eagle on the last to help him finish in second place on the leaderboard which must have made him pleased after yesterday.
Oosthuizen finished in the third position and he also shot a 66 who may be a dark horse tomorrow.

Then comes Donald in fourth looking to claim the double crown. After Donald’s round he was assured and reflective on where he now stands in the history books with only one round left. It is an amazing achievement that he has almost certainly completed. The dedication, commitment, and energy he (and supporting team) have put into this are massive and he’s on the cusp of glory. I for one would like to congratulate him on a superb season and wish him continued success. He does come across as one genuine, decent, hardworking fella.

Hanson is still in contention after his 71 and behind him are Lowry and Molinari F, who both shot 68’s to keep them in the hunt. Other names not to forget are Garcia, Schwartzel, Rock, Casey, Kaymer are also all on -8 in the following pack, can one of these bring a charge?

It is going to be an interesting outcome tomorrow, with history potentially being made and a championship still to be won, hold on to your hat, if you have one.

Important Announcement Tomorrow
After many rumors, talks, and discussion, tomorrow sees the announcement from the European Tour on the future of the Dubai World Championship and the Race to Dubai. It is looking likely it is going to be here again for a few more years but we shall see the definitive answer tomorrow from the Tour.
