Bilbo’s Brilliance Claims Jumeirah Golf Estates Mens Amateur Open title

Jumeirah Golf Estates member Bilbo Perrot finished two places higher than last year’s third position to claim the mens title.

Bilbo recorded a gross 77 over the Earth course to accompany his first round score of 74 to win the 2013 Jumeirah Golf Estates Mens Amateur Open sponsored by BMW AGMC over the weekend.
Playing off a plus three handicap, Bilbo stood in second place after Friday’s first round played over the Fire course, 3 shots behind fellow member and good friend, Martin Fernandez after his fine first round effort of a 1 under gross, 71.

As Martin uncharacteristically struggled in round two Bilbo took the ascendency by finishing off his final five holes in 2 under par to come home in a creditable 37. A nail biting finish saw up and coming youngster, Rayhan Thomas of Dubai Creek & Yacht Club and Paul Moir of The Els Club play themselves into a chance of claiming the title. In the end, both players finished a single shot back from Bilbo on a total of 152 and under a card playoff it was Paul who managed to claim second place overall with Rayhan finishing a creditable third. Having finished third in 2012, 2013 witnessed a jump of two places in the standings for Bilbo to be crowned the 2013 BMW AGMC Jumeirah Golf Estates Mens Open Champion with a total of 151,

In the Net Division Michael Pearce of Emirates Golf Club took the overall net title with net rounds of 72 and 70 for a 36 hole total score of 142. Barry Cotter claimed a second place finish, 3 shots back of Michael on an overall net total of 145 whilst Abu Dhabi Golf Club member, Daood Ali Jaffal received his third place trophy for recording a net total of 147 for his weekends pla
