“140th Open Championship” Members & Guests Betterball Stableford

The “140th Open Championship “ Member & Guests Betterball Stableford was played over the Earth course that saw one of the largest fields of the summer so far congregate at Jumeirah Golf Estates. A field totaling 40 teams witnessed some wonder golf over a testing course that was in superb condition and appreciated by all competitors.

The caliber of golf was set early on by the evidence shown on the range to prepare for the days competition ahead, observing the Open Championship this week has certainly spurd the competitors to raise their games and this was evident come the completion of the rounds when general scores/points were very respectable and all challenging for the lead.  It was the duo of Michelle Walsh, partnered by James Whitely that prevailed with a stunning point’s tally of 48. A sturdy back nine amassed 27 points, a truly winning performance by both players and were undisputed champions come the end of play.

Second place was occupied by Travis Cowgill and Paul Sackley, complementing each other’s game they established a very consistent front and back nine scores to amass 46 points, only 2 drift of first place, whilst to determine the third placed team, a BIH (Best Inward Half) of 25 points separated two teams to allow the pairing of Adele Cowgill and Mark Hughes to prevail. Their total of 45 points was a fine effort indeed and both players graciously received their prizes.

Nearest the Pin in 3 shots – 18th Won by Tony Stafford
