Calum Mills & Shabir Yakub claim Gross & Net titles at the Mizuno Mens Summer Open held at Arabian Ranches Golf Club

Calum Mills returned a gross one over par 73 to win the Arabian Ranches Mizuno Men’s Summer Open on Saturday, 16th July. The tournament attracted a field of 82 golfers. The format was an 18 hole strokeplay event with play from the 6,531 yards par 72 course with players using their handicap index as the Tournament allowance.

On a tough day with the rough up and the greens lightning fast, Mills held on to win his first Mizuno Summer Open Title.
Calum had nines of 39 and 34 including an impressive 3 gross birdies in his round. Having started on the second hole in the shotgun format he got of to a solid start with the only stutter coming at the eighth hole where he recorded double bogey seven. Mills maintained his composure well over the back nine with two birdies on both the par 5’s to close out his round with 34 and a total of 73 for the Championship. Mills was closely pursued by Edoardo Galeppini who posted a 74 earlier in the day.  

In the Net Shabir Yakub claimed the title with a brilliant Net 69 and one of very few scores in red numbers on the day. Yakub won by virtue of a count back when his score was matched by Andre Coetzee. Yakub managed his game brilliantly on a day when scoring was very difficult he posted two gross birdies on his way to a 79 for a net 69.
