Dubal and golf in DUBAi partnership reaches another milestone

The long-standing partnership between Dubai Aluminium PJSC (DUBAL) and ‘golf in DUBAi’ has reached another milestone with Dubai’s industrial flagship reiterating its commitment to support the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters for the next three years.

Effective until 2017, the fresh contract, signed last week, aims to build on the global appeal of the premier golf tournaments to further cement Dubai credentials as a world-class leisure, sporting and business hub.

DUBAL is an operating subsidiary of Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC (EGA), the new UAE-based aluminium conglomerate formed by Mubadala Development Company of Abu Dhabi and Investment Corporation of Dubai by combining their respective aluminium industry interests.

Having been associated with the Omega Dubai Desert Classic since 1992 and the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters since its inception in 2006, DUBAL has become synonymous with golf in the emirate,

The extension of DUBAL’s contract with ‘golf in DUBAi,’ the promoters and organisers of the two major golf tournaments in the region, coincides with the 35th anniversary of the company’s commencement. DUBAL’s growth and development since operations began in 1979 bears striking parallels to the phenomenal growth and development of Dubai.

“We are delighted to continue our association with ‘golf in DUBAi’ and hope our drive for excellence in sport will highlight Dubai’s superb sporting, tourism and business infrastructure,” said Khalid Buhumaid, Senior Vice President: Communication & Government Relations.

“These two events have been a catalyst for demonstrating the city’s innovative and cosmopolitan flair and enhancing its image as an ideal golfing destination. We leverage our sponsorship to build relationships with the company’s local suppliers and business associates.  It’s just one of the ways in which we express our gratitude for their support.

“We consider corporate investment in the growth and development of Dubai to be both a duty and a privilege. Accordingly, we take pride in sponsoring and participating in world-class events that showcase and promote both the city of Dubai and DUBAL across the world,” he added.

Mohamed Juma Buamaim, vice-chairman and CEO of ‘golf in DUBAi,’ echoed these sentiments, saying: “DUBAL’s support, first as the main sponsors of both events and then as a key sponsor, has been monumental. It helped create real impact long before names like Tiger Woods, Annika Sorenstam and Ernie Els brought their famous presence to the city.

“The fact that a state-owned company like DUBAL has backed our events from the beginning shows their confidence in our ability to deliver a world-class product without compromising on quality. We appreciate their trust and hold them in high esteem,” he said.

“Sponsorship is vital to the success of any sporting event and it’s really a matter of pride for all of us at ‘golf in DUBAi’ to see DUBAL continue to support our events. I am sure we are headed for an exciting time ahead.”

‘golf in DUBAi’ is backed by Omega as the title sponsor and DUBAL as the sponsor. The co-sponsors are: CNN, Drydocks World & Maritime World, Emirates NBD, Gulf News, Mercedes-Benz and wasl while Dubai Duty Free, Carpetland and Motivate Publishing are the Patrons in golf in DUBAi’s drive to showcase the emirate’s vibrant golfing scene to a worldwide audience.
