Al Naboodah Contracting Co to sponsor the Dubai World Championship

Al Naboodah Contracting Co. LLC, part of The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group, has signed up as a sponsor of the 2011 Dubai World Championship presented by DP World.

The finale of The European Tour’s Race to Dubai, the Dubai World Championship will see the Tour’s top 60 players in action for four days at the Greg Norman-design Earth course, Jumeirah Golf Estates, from December 8-11.

And the event – which offers $7.5 million in prize money as well as a Bonus Pool of a further $7.5 million – received a significant boost with the news that Al Naboodah Contracting Co. LLC has joined a family of sponsors that has helped make the tournament one of the world’s premier international golfing events.

“The European Tour, through the Race to Dubai and the Dubai World Championship, has taken Dubai to even greater heights in the world of golf so we are delighted to be able to play a part in this year’s event,” said Abdullah Saeed Al Naboodah, Chairman of Al Naboodah Contracting Co. LLC.

“Dubai was recently voted the third best sports city in the world at the annual International Sports Event Management Conference and it’s thanks to events such as the Dubai World Championship that the city is now a recognised global sporting destination and venue. By adding our name to the list of sponsors, we aim to play our own part in what is an ongoing success story.”

Although this is the first time Al Naboodah Contracting Co. LLC has enjoyed a sponsorship role within the $15 million event, the name of Al Naboodah is no stranger to the world of golf.

As well as sponsoring some of the biggest names in the sport including former US Open Champion Graeme McDowell – who will be one of the star names at the Dubai World Championship in December – the family name is also synonymous with the Emirates Airline Invitational hosted by Abdullah Saeed Al Naboodah, which will be staged for the sixth time on January 30, 2012.

“Having Al Naboodah Contracting Co. LLC join as a valued sponsor is a great boost to the tournament as we countdown to the grand finale of The European Tour season,” said Colin Smith, European Tour Director – International Business Development Middle East and Asia.

“The Race to Dubai continues to hot up with Sergio Garcia the man in form and Luke Donald aiming to become the first player to win the money lists in both Europe and the USA – it promises to be quite an end to the season at the Earth course.”
