Yousef retains his crown in RAK Mens Amateur Open at Al Hamra Golf Club

A solid first round 74 in very windy conditions set the foundations for Khalid Yousef to become the first player in the clubs history to retain the RAK Mens Amateur Open title against a strong field of competitors that contained some of the finest male golfers in the UAE.

The second round saw Yousef pushed all the way to the wire by his closest challenger Michael Harradine who also shot 74 in the first round. As day two turned into a matchplay between Yousef and Harradine, it was Yousef who patiently crafted a brilliant 72 gross to finish on 2 over par for the tournament, a score good enough to hold off Harradine who posted 75 giving him a 2 round total of 5 over. Third place went to Abdulla Al Musharek after rounds of 78 and 76.

In the net prizes it was in form Sidney D’Souza who played well enough to overcome a 3 shot deficit from Anand Sharma after day one to claim the Net trophy. D’Souza’s total of 143 was just one shot better than Sharma’ 144. Third place was picked up by Al Hamra member Otto Hoefer.
