Yas Links Golf Club Opens the full 18 holes for play

Yas Links Abu Dhabi, the UAEs most anticipated golf course will open the full 18 hole course on Friday 4th June.

Friday sees the first member’s stableford event to be played on the full course which will be followed by a Texas Scramble competition for members and guests on Saturday 5th June.

The Texas Scramble Competition filled up within 48 hours with over 200 entries.   Nick Oakley, Yas Links Director of Golf said “We knew we would have a lot of interest once the full 18 holes had opened.  Everyone who has played only the front 9 so far have been blown away by the course so it’s no real surprise we have now oversubscribed for the weekend’s event.

Yas Links first opened the front 9 holes back in April and have now completed all work on the back 9 and thus ready for full operations for the summer period.

Yas Island Links Golf Club

Chris White, General Manager said “Due to construction schedules on the island we chose to open the course in phases. We had initially anticipated opening the back 9 in early July, but have been able to accelerate that to early June, which can only be good for our members and guests.”

The course designed by Kyle Phillips is his first in the Middle East.  Phillips the man behind the world famous Kingsbarns in Scotland, The Grove, London and Dundonald, Scotland has really created quite a masterpiece on Yas Island, taking what was a relatively flat piece of desert and produced a course that would not be out of place in the more common links golf course regions of the UK and Ireland.  With 8 holes running along the coastline and all 18 with Arabian Gulf views the undulating golf course promises to become one of the best courses in the UAE and quite possibly the world.
