Xu Wins Luckiest Ball on Earth Qualifier at Al Badia Golf Club

The Al Badia Golf Club September Rivoli Monthly Medal had a special edge to it this month as it was also the qualifier event  to the Grand Final for the Luckiest Ball On Earth competition being held on 22nd October. The competition was eagerly anticipated as participants knew they were only two good rounds away from playing with some of the world’s biggest names in golf at the Rolex Pro-Am at the DP World Tour Championships. The winner and player heading to the Grand Final is Wei Jian Xu who shot a fantastic net 65 in windy conditions.  Xu, who plays off a 22 handicap, started his round with a solid 46 round the first nine holes, but then managed to turn on the style for his inward half as birdies on the final two par threes set him on his way to a 41 coming back.

Brodie MacDonald, golf operations supervisor at Al Badia Golf Club, said: “We wish Wei the best of luck at the Grand Final tournament; it would be great to see an Al Badia member participating at the Pro-Am. This is a fantastic initiative that really builds the excitement before the finally to the Race to Dubai competition in November.”

The other on-course prizes went to Simon Li for being closest to the pin on the 7th hole and Laurent Girouille for the longest drive at hole four.
