Women’s Wednesdays at Al Badia Golf Club Attracts Record Numbers

Ladies from across Dubai flocked to Al Badia Golf Club for the final Women’s Wednesday competition of the month, which saw record numbers of participants.

A fresh and original format was used with participants playing a 6-6-6 in teams of two. This format consists of the first six holes being played as a best ball, the next six holes as alternative shot with the last six holes using the Texas scramble format.

The winning team was made up of Elsa Van Der Merwe and Terry Elsakka whose great teamwork helped them shoot an incredible score of 61.6.  On-course prizes went to Kat Rutherford for the longest drive and Anne Allan for the nearest to the pin.

Joanne Bates, Al Badia golf pro, said: “It is great to see the event gaining popularity and so many ladies from across the city coming together to enjoy this fantastic sport.  Golf for women is really taking off in the UAE and the most enjoyable aspect for me is the number of beginner golfers joining us and showing such promising signs of talent.
