Winners on Match day 14 of the UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League
In Match Day 14 over the weekend three matches took place in the 2012 – 2013 UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League. The Els Club beating The Address Montgomerie, Dubai 4 ½ – 1 ½, Abu Dhabi Golf Club beating Yas Links, Abu Dhabi, 5 – 1 and Tower Links / Al Hamra, Ras al Khaimah beating Arabian Ranches Golf Club 5 – 1.
Each team will play 2 home matches and 2 away matches in this 4 league structure with 3 teams allocated to each league. The points system sees each team accumulate their individual winning games added to a bonus of 2 points for a team win and 1 point for a team draw. If a team wins 4 – 0 they will receive 6 league points. A 2 – 2 drawn match gives 3 points per team.
At the conclusion of the round robin first round matches the winners of League A will play the winners of League B and the winners of League C will play the winners of League D.
Arabian Ranches have already taken top spot in League A after completing their matches with a total of 18 points.
The winners of the respective semi-finals will then play each other in the final.
The next match sees Els Club host Al Badia on Saturday 16th February in League C.
Bob Driver Invitational Scratch Golf League co-ordinator said at the publication of the current league tables, ‘The tables are beginning to take shape. Leagues B and C look to be going to the wire with Emirates Golf Club favourites to take League D with a game in hand.’
