Wilsons Win Wentworth Invitational at the Emirates Golf Club

Stephanie and Bryan Wilson combined superbly in a 2-ball scramble format to triumph in the Wentworth Club Invitational Tournament.

Following a disappointing recent performance in a mixed pair’s event, Stephanie Wilson was ‘delighted’ to put in such a fantastic performance in one of the most popular events on the members tournament schedule.

The pair managed to post a gross 76 over the famous Karl Litten designed Majlis course, which included 15 pars. The duo dropped shots on the 2nd and 6th plus a double bogey six on the par 4 5th rated the hardest hole on the course. Thirty percent of their combined handicaps gave them a net 60.4 to take top prize and rounds over the West, East and Edinburgh courses at Wentworth.

The closest rivals to the Wilsons were their close friends Darren and Frances Cole who fired a gross 66, net 61.8 to take runners-up position. The Coles signed for a near perfect scorecard with birdies on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 13th, 17th and 18th and a solitary dropped shot on the par three 15th hole.

Also in the prizes amongst the 112-strong field were Dick Purchase and Paul Donovan for their nearest the pin exploits and Viv Caley for her long drive on the 16th hole.
