Walid Alattar rolled back the years to win the UAE Nationals Monthly Tournament by five shots at Jebel Ali Golf Resort and Spa

The former UAE national champion, who hardly plays any competitive golf these days due to his busy work schedule at DUBAL, knocked the rust off his game, carding a brilliant 42 points to finish well ahead of a strong field.

In-form Mohammed Al Musharrekh, who leads the Series following his back-to-back wins in the opening two events of the monthly tournament, settled for second with 37 points, two ahead of third-placed Daood Jaffal.

Khalid Yousuf, a key member of the UAE national team, shot a level-par 72 to win the prestigious Best Gross prize.
Sohail Al Marzouqi walked away with honours in Division A with 33 points while Abdulla Al Muharrami (34 points) needed a countback to win the Division B title.

The junior division also produced an exciting affair with Fathi Skaik posting a fantastic score of 46 points to leave his nearest challengers trailing well behind. The fast-improving junior also picked up the nearest to the pin prize with a neat tee shot on eighth hole to round off a good day at work.

Saeed Albudoor, general manager of the Emirates Golf Federation, thanked all the players for making the event a great success. “Scores were impressive in each division which suggest the course was in great condition.
“It’s nice to see veteran players like Walid retain the same hunger for success which made them champions years back. Their presence certainly adds to the spice of the competition.”
