Waine and Jamieson Crowned UAE PGA Fourball Champions

The Track, Meydan Golf hosted 16 teams who took part in the 2nd Annual UAEPGA Fourball Championship sponsored by Taylor Made, last week in blustery conditions, mixed in with a little bit of rain.

With the greens in superb condition, quick and combined with some tricky pin positions scoring was always going to be tough, with most players finding some problems at some point in the round.

The event pairs together one PGA Professional and one UAE based amateur player and they play Betterball Strokeplay to determine the team score on each hole.

Abu Dhabi Golf Club pairing of Phil Waine and fitness fanatic Kevin Jamieson claimed top honours.  The pairing dove tailed really well with Waine playing his first nine holes very poorly and Kevin playing steady golf.  On his last nine holes however Waine played them in a superb under par to help the pairing to a betterball score of two under par 70.  This was enough to allow them a victory on countback ahead of Al Badia’s James Shippey and Club Captain Tony Billingham, Defending champion Stuart Fee (Jebel Ali) and Stuart McMurdo and Al Badia’s Ed Chapman and Satwinder Sembi.  Shippey and Billingham claimed second place on countback and pipped Fee and McMurdo into third place.
