Vijayesh Wins first Blue Bell Shipping Open Challenge at Al Hamra Golf Club

The first of four Open Challenges took place today over Al Hamra’s Championship Course and saw a packed field of UAE golfers ready to compete in the Individual Stableford event.

There will be one event each month over the next four months, all of which have been kindly sponsored by Blue Bell Shipping. This means that there are some great prizes on offer along with trophies for the top 3 finishing competitors.

The first event got of to a rocketing start with the winner Vijayesh Kondath carding a colossal 45 points, one of the highest winning totals we’ve had for some time. This resulted in a 5 point winning margin from second place Rishi Nair who carded a still impressive 40 points.

Third place came to a 2 person play-off between Johan Thorell and Haridas Kondath as both competitors carded scores of 38 points, although with an impeccable back 9 score of 22 points it was Johan who took the third place trophy.

The four Nearest the Pin prizes were picked up by Eric Engelbrecht on Hole 4, Steve Rayment on Hole 7, Rory Thompson on Hole 11 and Shawqi Sajwani on Hole 15. Shawqi and Eric were also the only two players to score a two and therefore split the 140DHS pot.
