UAE National Day Golf Tournament winners at Yas Links

41st UAE National day was celebrated in full pomp and splendor by UAE golfers at Yas Links Abu Dhabi recently. Close to 100 players from all over the UAE, braved unstable weather conditions, converged at the Links style course for an afternoon shotgun to hail the spirit of the nation. Whilst enjoying the festive mood the players also showed off their competitive edge determined to win the tournament.

The team, comprising of Saleh Al Ameri, Nawaf Fawaz, Haneef Rabbani & Maajid Madni, carded 86 points to eventually clinch the signature trophy. Five points behind, Jalal Abbasi, Fathi, Haridas Kondath & Vijayesh Kondath wrested the Runner up spot from Darwish Al Qubaisi & team mates Abdullah Al Humaidan, Kevin Roy & Saeem Rehman for a narrow margin of 1 point. Nearest the Pin & Longest Drive prizes were awarded to winning players.

Organised by Emirates Golf Federation and sponsored by National Marine Dredging company the UAE National Day golf tournament is held annually to celebrate the UAE National Day. The event is traditionally played in team betterball stableford format, with 2 scores to count from a team of 4.

Parallel to the main event, a junior Par 3 challenge was also organised over the Yas Par 3 course. Khaled Al Mutawa and Bailey Hunt won the Betterball pairs competition by 3 strokes over Maryam Al Marzouqi & Mark Baxter with 31 points, third place went to Mahmood Skaik & Mackenzie Hunt with 35 points.

Shaikh Nahyan bin Diab bin Saif Al Nahyan graced the occasion with his presence and also handed out commemorative gifts to junior golfers.
