UAE Junior National Team attend a Golf summer camp in Morocco

The UAE U18’s national golf team returned home from Morocco recently after attending a pre-season camp to fine tune their skills ahead of their forthcoming engagements on the domestic and international circuits. The camp was part of the Emirates Golf Federation’s intensive training programme to prepare the team for the forthcoming Pan Arab Championship, held at Riffa Views in Bahrain in November. Accompanied by Khalid Mubarak Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Emirates Golf Federation, seven junior members selected went through their paces under the watchful eyes of the UAE national junior coach Jason Froggatt. In preparation for the season ahead and one of the four spots available for the Pan Arab Championships, every aspect of golf – from the swing technique/short game/fitness to mental toughness – was covered during the camp with particular emphasis on improving the players’ course management skills.

“Different forms of play on the courses at Royal Dar es Salam provided the team players to implement all what they had learnt throughout the week, and more importantly helped to forge a sense of camaraderie,” said Al Shamsi. “Playing on an European Tour Venue course which hosts King Hassan VI Trophy was a great experience for the juniors”

“It was a pretty successful camp thanks to the enthusiastic response from the players who
now look forward to the challenges ahead. We are committed to providing the players with the best playing opportunities and Pan Arab Championship is very much part of our initiative to try and keep the momentum going. The experience gained at this year’s GCC Tournament championship will go a long way in preparing the team for the future international tournaments like the forthcoming Pan-Arab Championship. Riffa Views will be a true test to the team the young players can learn on the senior players from their experience in past tournament’s in Bahrain”, Al Shamsi concluded.

The National Junior Programme is supported by International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) Abu Dhabi
