UAE Golfers Hoping to Score With “Luckiest Ball on Earth”

UAE-based golfers of all levels will be able to compete for a place in the Rolex Pro-Am at the Dubai World Championship, presented by DP World thanks to a new ‘Luckiest Ball on Earth’ competition, which gets underway next month (October).

Every golf club in the UAE and affiliated to the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) has been invited to participate with the October Monthly Medal winner qualifying for the Grand Final of the Luckiest Ball on Earth to be staged at the Earth course, Jumeirah Golf Estates on November 15.

“We at the EGF are happy to support this initiative as we think it's a great opportunity for local golfers in the UAE,” said Saeed Al Badoor, General Manager of the EGF.

In addition to the winner of the October Monthly Medal, a place in the Grand Final will also be on offer to the lucky player who finds a ‘special’ golf ball placed in the stack of range balls set up prior to the Monthly Medal tee off time at the participating clubs.

The winner of the Grand Final – which will see a 1pm shotgun start at the Earth course on November 15 – will win a spot in the Rolex Pro-am to be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 before the $15 million tournament itself gets underway from December 8-11.

While the competition is open to all clubs, only those who register their October Monthly Medal for the event by September 15 will be eligible.

Luckiest Ball

The Luckiest Ball on Earth competition is open to all golfers aged 18 or over on Tuesday December 6, 2011; hold an Official Club Handicap as recognised by the EGF; and are eligible to compete in the Qualifying Tournament. The maximum handicap for competitors is 28 for men and 36 for Ladies.

If the winner of the nominated Qualifying Tournament is unable to play in the Grand Final the runner-up will be invited. Should the finder of the Driving Range Ball also be unable to play in the Grand Final, the prize is non-transferable.

“The Luckiest Ball on Earth competition is likely to be a hard-fought affair with the winner set to play alongside one of the world’s greatest players when the Dubai World Championship is staged in December,” said Colin Smith, European Tour Director – International Business Development Middle East and Asia.
