UAE Amateur Golfers Prepare for the Champions of Champions

The final Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) Order of Merit (OOM) event has ended and results are calculated. Now, top amateur and junior golfers across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have less then a month to prepare for the Champions of Champions event at The Els Club Dubai

The Champions of Champions is a two-day event that will take place on May 30-31, 2014. This event, presented by EGF, will have divisions for Men, Ladies, and Junior golfers. Men and Ladies who supported most events during the season will be invited to participate in this event (playing in a sand course qualifier being an added advantage), and top Juniors from Junior Order of Merit will compete in Junior division.

The EGF OOM Men’s Division, played in a Gross format, was composed of 14 events, between October 2013 and May 2014. These 36-hole events proved to deliver a test for every golfer participating. Michael Harradine (EGC) was the clear-cut winner with 268 Gross points. Harradine is a strong favorite going into the Champions of Champions event. He won 6 out of the 10 events that he played.. Finishing as the Runner-Up is Rayhaan Thomas (DCGYC) (212.8) and Christopher Alderman (TMD) (134) took Third place.

In the EGF OOM Ladies’ Division there are two different scoring categories, Gross & Net, this season had 12 events. Taking top honors of the Ladies Division in the Gross category was Sana Tufail (YLAD). Sana had 228 total gross points, having won6 out of 8 events played. Sana also took the Runner-Up position in the Net category with 154.5 points. Kim Chiang (ARGC) took the Runner-Up position in the Gross category and First Place in the Net category. Chiang had 200.5 Gross points and 209.3 Net points. Placing Third in both the Gross and Net categories was Anastasia Bakal (TMD). Bakal has 154.5 points in the Gross category and 140 points in the Net Category.

The EGF OOM Junior Divisions consists of two categories and two divisions for the juniors. Both, Boys and Girls divisions had a Gross and Net category. The season had 9 events for the juniors to compete. Winning the EGF OOM Boys Gross Division was Eric Hartzuiker (ARGC). Arkesh Bhatia(DCGYC) finished as the Runner-Up (156.6). Rounding out the top-3, was Aryan Chordia (DCGYC) (141). Boys Net Division, Harry Sheedy (TEC) was the victor finished with 124.5. The Runner-Up of the Boys Net Division was Suvansh Arora (EGC) (102.5). Finishing in Third was Dhruv Nair (DCGYC) with 82 points

With the same format, the EGF OOM Girls Divisions found mirroring results in each category. Winning both the Gross and Net category was Alkyonie Aharidis (TEC), with gross point total of 183 and Net category with 174 points. Runner-Up prize in both the Gross and Net categories were taken by Ashaka Desai (DCGYC) with a Gross point total of 145.5 and a Net total of 145. In third place was Ananya Sharma (EGC) Sharma has a 131 Gross points and a 138 Net points.

Now that the 2013-2014 EGF OOM season has ended golfers are gearing up for the Champions of Champions event. The EGF is excited to present this prestigious event as the winners of the OOM season and winners of the Champions of Champions will be celebrated after the second round.
