Tufail Impresses over Majlis to win the Emirates Golf Club Ladies Amateur Open

Sana Tufail was in top form this weekend as she triumphed in the Emirates Ladies Amateur Open by a 12 shot margin.

The 15-year old, representing Yas Links, produced two excellent rounds of golf over the Faldo and Majlis courses. She opened up with a one-under par 72 on the Faldo and backed that up with an equally as impressive 71 over the Majlis.

Tufail, following her debut in the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters back in December,  was delighted to break par around the Karl Litten designed Majlis layout. The win caps an outstanding season for the youngster who has now won 10 Order of Merit Events in a row.

Kavita Sehmi, from Emirates Golf Club, claimed runners-up place with rounds of 79 and 76. Sharon Hall signed for rounds of 79 and 76 to clinch third place.

The other highlight of the day was a hole in one by Emirates member Nina Larm on the 15th hole, this helped her to secure a best gross 84 for the final round. The prize for best gross on day 1 went to Yuko Tsukiori from Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.

Aashaka Desai, from Dubai Creek, won the prize for overall best net score with excellent rounds of 68 and 74 for a 142 total – three under par.

The best net score on day one went to Carolyn Thompson following a 70 and Martha Wong took the equivalent prize over the Majlis with a net 68.
