Tripathi and Byrne on Song in Mashreq Medal at Emirates Golf Club

The June edition of the Mashreq Medal Championship in Association with BMW and Harvey Nichols Dubai was staged yesterday over the Faldo course, with Dalip Tripathi and Paul Byrne the stand out performers.

Tripathi and Byrne, both single figured handicappers, produced superb performances in hot and humid conditions both signing for a 4-under par 68. A card count back had to decide the top two positions in handicap division A (0-15) and it was Tripathi’s birdie on the 18th to Byrnes’ bogey which turned out to be crucial. Tripathi took top prize with Byrne in second and Qamar Rasheed in third after a level par 72. Byrne was delighted to pick up the prize for best gross of the day a 73.
Suresh Shewakramani signed for a net 71 to triumph in Division B (handicap 16-28) with Alex Kim in second after a 77 and Nishith Patel in third on the same 5-over par score. All prize winners received Harvey Nichols Dubai Vouchers, with the winner of each division and best gross taking home an Aed 1500 voucher.

Mashreq Bank is the title sponsor for the 2013 Monthly Medals Series that will be held across both Emirates Golf Club and Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. BMW, long standing supporter of the Monthly Medals at both clubs is continuing its association with this prestigious series. Harvey Nichols Dubai came on board from 1st May to support the series in the form of vouchers for their stores.

Over a 12 month period there will be a total of 22 monthly medals across the two Dubai Golf managed clubs. During the months of July and August there will also be joint medals where by Dubai Creek members compete against Emirates members and vice versa. Both clubs will run separate order-of-merits and the top 36 players in both order-of-merits will win a place in the grand final.
