Top players are booked for the NBAD 28th Ladies Open Championship at Al Ghazal Golf Club

For the past 27 years the National Bank of Abu Dhabi [NBAD] have been involved with ladies golf in the Capitol, and NBAD continue to break records by once again sponsoring the 2011 Abu Dhabi Ladies Open Golf Championship at Al Ghazal Golf Club.

NBAD ‘The Number One Bank’ in the U.A.E. has once again broken a prestigious record by becoming the longest ever running sponsor in the history of golf in the U.A.E.

NBAD Group Chief Executive Mr. Michael Tomalin commented that, “once again, the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) is pleased to be the Prime Sponsor of the 28th Abu Dhabi Ladies Open Golf Championship”.

"We are proud to be part of the history of the Abu Dhabi Ladies Open Championship. Since its inception in 1968, NBAD has been supporting the needs of the community. In our Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility (CSR) policy, we pledged to act as a role model in the social and environmental development of the UAE, and the countries in which we operate. We are engaged in many vital activities in this regard”.

Al Ghazal’s Lady Captain Deborah Castle also commented that “the AGGC ladies section is very proud and honoured to have the ‘number one bank’ National Bank of Abu Dhabi support this special event and in particular their support of the traditions of ‘Sand Golf’ especially with the U.A.E.’S 40th Anniversary coming up.   We are all looking forward to greeting our guests and visitors this weekend, renewing old friendships and making new ones, which is all part and parcel of the traditions of Abu Dhabi’s Al Ghazal Golf Club”.

Many of the top amateurs in the U.A.E. have signed up to play.  On form amateur and scratch player Sana Tufail is looking to add the ‘NBAD Dhow Trophy’ to her burgeoning collection of golf trophies.  2010 winner Angela Scurr commented that “we all expect Sana to be at the top, so all eyes will be on the youngster.  Sana whose handicap in 2009 was 9 is now a very serious and competent contender; she takes regular lessons from our Professional Mark Ireland and works very hard at her game.  I sincerely wish Sana and all the competitors the very best of luck and look forward to a competitive and great weekend”.

Tufail will not get it all her own way and certainly has some competition with AGGC players such as on form and current Ladies Club Champion Lizette Breytenbach, also Anina Bester and Lady Captain Deborah Castle are hoping to keep the trophy in-house.  Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club’s and past winner Nasha Sarkari along with Emirates Golf Club’s Kavita Sehmi and Ashley Anderson and new comer Yas Links Golf Club’s Sharon Nicoline-Hall are also in contention!

Lady Captain Deborah is looking forward to greeting everyone over the weekend of the 25th and 26th November and expects an exciting 2011 NBAD Abu Dhabi Ladies Open event.  Spectators are most welcome to visit the AGGC and view the proceedings as they unfold.
