Thomas Pink Dubai Creek Men’s Open Back To Black at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club

The annual Thomas Pink Dubai Creek Men’s Back to Black was held today with over 80 players battling it out for the prestigious title.

As always for this event, and the only time it happens in the year, the course is set up from the back, black tees.  This, along with tight pin positions and quick greens would provide a tough challenge for the field in the windy conditions.

After a great performance and carding 4 birdies, it was reining Dubai Creek Club Champion Bayhan Lakdawala who was crowned champion with a superb 4-over par 75.  After being presented his trophy Lakdawala commented; “It is great to have won this prestigious event.  I would like to say a big thank you the sponsors Thomas Pink along with all of the staff at the Creek for their efforts in making this event such a success.  Also a thank you goes to my playing partners on the day; they made it a lot of fun”.  UAE National Team player Abdullah Al Musharrekh also put in a solid performance and finished runner-up with a 7-over par 78.  Dubai Creek Vice Captain Tejan Fadlu-Deen beat fellow member Mark Williams into 3rd place on a 9 hole count-back after the pair finished on 79.

There were also prizes for the best net scores on the day.  Topping this division and taking the net champion trophy was Mandeep Vohra who carded a superb net 68.  Janish Khurana finished just two shots back and took the net runner-up spot with a solid net 70.  One shot behind Khurana was Mansour Khodjasteh, who took third place with a very respectable level par net 71.

There were also four on course competitions in the form of longest drive and nearest the pin events. Taking the first of these was Robbie Greenfield for his monstrous tee shot on the par 5, 4th hole.  Nearest the Pin on hole 8 went to Ashok Kumar.  Another long drive on the tough par 4, 12th came from Mike Robson and he picked up the prize there.  Net Champion Mandeep Vohra was rewarded for his accuracy with his tee shot into the par 3, 16th.

Dubai Creek’s Head Golf Professional Stephen Hubner commented; “It was nice to see all the players enjoying their day here at The Creek despite the difficult conditions.  Thanks of course to our wonderful sponsor Thomas Pink and congratulations to Bayhan and all of the other winners”.
