This weekend sees match day 4 of the 12-13 UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League
Tomorrow sees three matches take place in Match Day 3 of the 2012 – 2013 UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League. Al Ghazal Golf Club, Abu Dhabi host defending League champions Arabian Ranches Golf Club, Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club host Yas Links, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club host Sharjah Wanderers Golf Club.
The League has already seen 3 matches take place this season with four times League champions Emirates Golf Club off to a flying start leading League D with convincing wins over both Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club (3 ½ – ½) and Sharjah Wanderers Golf Club (4 – 0). The only other match to date has seen Al Badia Golf Club half with The Address Montgomerie, Dubai in League C.
The 2012 – 2013 League see 12 teams compete in 4 divisions with each team playing 2 matches at home and 2 away.
At the conclusion of the 24 divisional matches at the end of March 2013 the winners of the respective leagues then progress to the semi-final stages and the winners then play each other in a two leg home and away final to determine the 2012 -2013 Invitational Scratch Golf League champions.
Bob Driver, Co-ordinator of the League said at the announcement of the pairings for this weekend’s matches, ‘The UAE Golfing Calendar is more than busy but it is exciting to see that there is still an enthusiastic interest from both players and clubs in continuing the UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League for the 7th season. In any golfing community it is important to always acknowledge and provide opportunities for the best players to compete on level terms and the Scratch League seems to be that vehicle. We wish all teams a competitive as well as enjoyable Scratch League season.’
The Invitational Scratch Golf League has a fourball betterball scratch matchplay format involving 8 players a side. Each winning team gains its points won in addition to a win bonus of a further 2 points. A losing team just gains its points won and a halved game results in 3 points for each team.
