This weekend sees four matches take place in the 2011 – 2012 UAE Invitational Scratch Golf League
Today (Friday) in League ‘C’ Al Ghazal Golf Club, Abu Dhabi plays host to The Address Montgomerie, Dubai and tomorrow (Saturday) a further 3 matches take place on Match Day 4; The Els Club host Al Ain Shooting, Equestrian and Golf Club in League ‘A’, Tower Links / Al Hamra, Ras Al Khaimah host Sharjah Wanderers / Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club in League ‘B’ ay Tower Links, Ras Al Khaimah and the final weekend fixture in League ‘D’ where Yas Links, Abu Dhabi host Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The 12 team UAE Invitational Scratch League got under way in November with two matches already having been played in League D.
The format of the League is 8 players a side in fourball scratch matchplay played over 18 holes from the competition tees.
The winning teams in each match receive a win bonus of 2 points plus points according to the number of individual games won, losing teams just receive the points according to the number of games won and a drawn match results in each team receiving 3 league points.
Following the Round Robin First Round matches where all teams play 2 matches at home and two away the winners of the 4 Leagues will meet for Semi-Final matches with the respective winners going forward to the Grand Final Match to determine the 2011 – 2012 Invitational Scratch League champions.
Bob Driver, Invitational Scratch Golf League co-ordinator said at the draw announcement, ‘It is exciting to get the 2011 – 2012 season properly underway. We have been impressed with the interest levels of all 12 teams and thank the golf clubs for their continued support.’
