Road to Ras al Khaimah Challenge Tour News, Results and Information

There is plenty to do for spectators coming to visit the Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final

As the top 45 players battle it out for the 15 European Tour cards on offer at the Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final hosted by Al Badia Golf Club, there’s plenty to do for spectators aside from watching the golf. Firstly, all spectators during the week are entitled to a free burger and beverage in Spikes bar at Al Badia Golf Club and the complimentary goodness doesn’t stop there.

Provision Events, a fan-based sporting events service based in the UK, have laid out golf mats and nets where visitors can sign up for free golf lessons taught by one of Al Badia’s golf professionals. Those who sign up for the lessons are given an in-depth video analysis of their swing and are also emailed visual feedback of their swing.

In addition to the free golf lessons, Provision have also set-up a nearest-to-the-pin competition using a state of the art golf simulator. So far the closest competitor has landed her ball two feet away from the target, which lies 125 yards away.

“It’s a great way to get people involved in the golf”, said Andy Gealy, event manager at Provision Events. “Especially with the golf simulator, everyone seems to really like that competition.”

Provision Events provide their services at European Tour, Challenge Tour, and PGA Tour events all over the world and will also be at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai which will be held at Jumeirah Golf Estates from Thursday 20 to Sunday 23 November.

7DAYS, the official newspaper of the event, has provided a relaxing lounging area opposite to the driving range where patrons can enjoy the comfort of bean bags while watching the best of the Challenge Tour warming up, while they have also provided a handy charging station for a whole host of different mobile phones.

Tournament sponsors, Al-Futtaim Automotive Group even has a range of classic cars, sports cars and motorcycles on display at the event for motoring enthusiasts to enjoy.

James Shippey, Golf Club Manager, Al Badia Golf Club by InterContinental, said: “We have always wanted the event to be about more than just golf, whilst it’s a hugely important event for the top 45 players on the Challenge Tour Ranking as they battle it out on the fairways for the coveted prize of European Tour status. We wanted to embrace the UAE community to ensure they feel welcome to come along to the club and enjoy our InterContinental hospitality in relaxed surroundings and watch the future golf stars play our magnificent golf course. The off course activities are based around developing new golfers and enhancing the skills of the more experienced golfers in an environment that is welcoming for the whole family. The feedback we’ve received thus far shows the initiatives are working and we look forward welcoming may more guests over the weekend.”
