THE WORLD grabs maiden victory over ASIA In Figme Clash of the Titans IV

TEAM THE WORLD carried out their blitzkrieg attack on TEAM ASIA thrashing the Asian gladiators with a score of  9 to 4 in a tactical format of PAIRS BETTER BALL STABLEFORD MATCH PLAY 7/8 HANDICAP ALLOWANCE held in picturesque Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club. Victorious team of Alan Wilkinson (Team Captain) & Peter Menelaou (Vice  Captain) were jubilant with their maiden win and celebrated in style with all the golfers. Gracious in defeat, Team Asia led by Arnel Pabitu and Rudy Laguna quoted “We shall return.” The current standing is ASIA = 3 & THE WORLD = 1.  Despite the victory, all the golfers have one thing in common; to enjoy, meet new friends and contribute back to society in their own little way.

“Good Practice” – a core value that FIGME believes is one of the reasons why Filipino Golfers in the Middle East’ allocates a portion of the tournament fees and patrons’ contribution to their adopted foundation in the Philippines which is Bantay Bata 163. Clash of the Titans event generated Dhs. 2,120 which will be donated to BB163 Chairperson (along with added FIGME funds) when she visits UAE in October 2012. The CSR (Culture of Social Responsibility) initiative is the 2nd time initiated by the FIGME for 2012 as they had also contributed last February an amount of 1,000 USA dollars aside from previous initiatives since 2008.

On the other hand, the individual stable ford event a usual fixture of CLASH OF THE TITANS produced a gallant display of pro-like Golf where David Gowans (HCP 3) emerged as the Over-all Champion with 32 points best gross 78. Eventually, Jim Patla, reigning Champion (2011) was still the winner in Platinum Division (0-12 HCP). Werner Rooseboom (HCP 8) followed the trail with 30 and Lorenzo Rivera (HCP 8), 29 points.

Gold Division (13 – 18) saw new gladiators emerging as winners namely, John Larkin (14) 32 points, Chris Burkill (14)  & Ruben Jamorra (16) with 30 & 28 pts. respectively.

Pritam Mirchandani (18) led the victory from the Silver Division (HCP 19 – 33) with 32 points followed by Ronald Javier (17) with 24 and Ryan Clarina (23HCP) garnering 23 points.

Nine special events at stake which are as follows:

Nearest The Pin: Holes 5, 8, 14 & 16 went to Lorenzo Rivera, Chito Albay, Alan Wilkinson & Iain Milligan.
Longest Drive for Men: Hole 4 went to Garreth Estment – 340 yards
Longest Drive for Ladies: Hole 4 went to Joy Lirio
Shortest Drive in the fairway, Hole 12: Ibrahim Baggash with precision, 124 yards in the middle with a pitching wedge.
Nearest the Pin, 2nd shot: Hole 3 Carlos Bengco
Nearest the Pin, 3rd Shot Hole 13: David Hadley, 4 inches beside the cup
Attack the flag: Hole 11th went to Nestor Labis an inch beside the pin.

Topping up the fun filled event are lots of raffle draw courtesy of presenting sponsors namely Trelleborg, Seawings, The City Hospital and Welcare Hospital.
