The swing begins in Abu Dhabi with more creativity

Last year the Westin hotel opened on site and the wear red day free entry initiative was another step making this event shine

This will be my 3rd outing to the Abu Dhabi Golf Championship and even in that time, it has been very interesting to witness the transformation.

This improved growth is very evident and is not only just due to the winning purse (which of course attracts better players and then galleries), but also on the efforts to improve footfall in the course and surrounding village.

Personally, I work in an around the digital-sphere and obviously creativity is part of what I do (some may say differently!) and for me, whatever business you are involved with especially in these tougher days, that word creativity is essential. Whatever your working environment, type of business or customers if you can add some form of creative thinking into your business it will help you tremendously. This just does not simply mean create a new fancy logo, it means thinking of ideas to implement that create a different appeal to your project and they don’t have to cost a fortune to implement.
A great example of this is the wear red day and gain free entry initiative that the Championship has incorporated. Whether it was HSBC (who have red branding) ADTA, IMG, Troon, Golf in Abu Dhabi who came up with this idea, or maybe a combination of marketing departments, it completely worked last year. This year I am expecting this simple but effective strategy to bring in the crowds again, so my hat goes off to whoever was part of this activation.

This all brings me nicely on to who will win the actual event. With the high-quality field that has been assembled, there are several players in with a chance of winning the Falcon Trophy.
The mouthwatering expected pairing of Nike stablemates Rory and Tiger, former winners Kaymer or Casey, or debutants Els or Rose. There is surely some stories to be told here, including last years winner Robert Rock, will he put up a sturdy defence of his title?
It all shapes up to be another superb event to be played in the UAE, I have said it before if you are a Golf fan living here, then lucky, lucky you.
