The SAIF Zone Golf Society League on countdown to its 3rd year

The SAIF Zone Golf Society League, supported by Worldwide Golf and BMW is on countdown to the beginning of its 3rd season. The opening fixtures of the season have been announced as October 15th for the BMW and SAIF Zone leagues with the Worldwide Golf and Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club leagues commencing the following Saturday on October 22nd.

The SAIF Zone Golf Society League (GSL) accommodates a maximum of 24 Societies.  These 24 Societies, who are committed to providing 4 players per monthly fixture, are pooled into 4 leagues of 6 (the draw for the leagues is due to take place first week in October).  The 6 teams all play each other on 1 designated Saturday (1.00pm shotguns) each month (Oct – Feb).  The 2 leading teams from each league then progress to the Quarter Final stage in March, which is a knock out format.  The season climaxes with the final (and 3rd and 4th place play off) which is scheduled for Saturday 21st April.

Previous champions include the Indian Golf Society and Massin Golf Society.  Both are expected to compete again this coming season.  Claire Badger, Golf Business Development and Sales Manager, for the host venue (Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club) commented, “We (SGSC) and all our established Societies are once again looking forward to the coming GSL season.  The previous two have been extremely competitive and well supported due to the event’s Matchplay format and its excellent value (AED 295 per fixture including green fee, cart, range balls and dinner after play) . The event also provides extensive networking opportunities and brand exposure.  Societies, whether social or corporate, enjoy 7 months of high profile exposure (including their company or society logo) at the events and in the Middle East’s leading golf magazine Worldwide Golf.  Unfortunately due to SGSC being a 9 hole course we are limited to a maximum of 24 Societies. Years 1 and 2 were both over subscribed and we recommend interested parties contact us as soon as possible.”

This event is truly unique in that official EGF handicaps are not compulsory.  Society handicaps, authorized by respective Team Captains, are accepted.
