The New UAE Golf season is in full flow but will the footfall continue

Are you ready or the new UAE Golf season?

Well, it is back… the UAE Golf season has started its relentless roll of tee times and events.
The intense heat is slowly fading but the temperature is still reaching 40c + in the day. In a few more weeks it is going to become that glorious Golfing weather for many months to come.

There has been some interesting tee time offers in the summertime. Courses have joined together again to cross-promote hoping to entice in more punters. The most high profile was the joint membership deal between Yas and JGE which was a really good bargain and must have had some impact on other courses around each venue. I hope you grabbed yourself a good deal from your Golf course and shopped around?

It will also be very interesting to see this year if the tee time numbers hold up against previous years as all the Golf Courses battle it out for a seemingly lower pool of Golfers. Memberships here in the UAE have now definitely changed on some of the courses, especially with the arrival of bogof’s (buy one get one free) and special offers everywhere. Golf courses are on constant alert for the next way of bringing people through the doors. Memberships on the newer courses have been a difficult battle to convince people to pay up the kind of cash that was once the norm and have had to cut their cloths accordingly. There were mixed reports of summer Golfer numbers, (of course not a massively busy time) but still, it is an indicator of changes.

With another 9 hole course opening in Dubai very soon at The Meydan, I do wonder if this will affect any of the other courses? Yes, I know it is only a 9 hole, but this is perfect for a quick twilight or night game, bang in the center of town. Let’s see if it is going to be floodlit first though.

With the Mena Golf Tour now launched with its first event, this can only help continue growing the game of Golf in the UAE. With the spotlight being placed on the regions outstanding facilities and Golf courses it can only be an extra addition to showcasing what is on offer here which is another positive step.

Looking forward to seeing what evolves this season and we will be keeping you updated as per always.

Thanks for your support Paul
