The Dubai Schools Golf League Is Back In Full Swing

On November 10, 2014 the Dubai Schools League started its 2014 – 2015 season. Over 50 students from 11 different Dubai Schools gathered at The Track – Meydan to play a nine-hole competition.

This is the first of four events that will take place at The Track – Meydan. The Dubai Schools League supported by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) gives students and junior golfers the opportunity to play in a competitive atmosphere while growing sportsmanship and learning the fundamentals of golf.  

The players and teams have three different categories to compete in. Taking an early lead on the Team Stableford Leaderboard was Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) with a team score of 73 points. Points from the top four players out of six players from each team is added up to contribute to the team’s score. The Team Stableford Leaderboard will be updated every round for a total of four rounds.
 
In second place on the Team Stableford Leaderboard is GEMS World Academy, Dubai (GWA). GWA had a total of 70 Stableford points. Rounding out the top three spots on the Team Stableford Leaderboard is the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF) with a total of 66 points.
 
Besides the Team Stableford Leaderboard, individual players were playing in two other categories, the Best Gross Score and the Best Stableford Score.
 
Winning the Best Gross Score category for the first round was Erik from JESS with a score of 36. Coming in second place was Kim from Dubai American Academy (DAA) with a score of 37. The third place winner for the Best Gross Score was Alkyonie from Emirates International School (EIS) with a score of 38.
 
 In the Best Stableford Score category, Eddie from JESS came in first place with a score of 22.  Alkyonie from EIS came in second place on a count back with a score of 21. Rounding out the Best Stableford Score category coming in third place was Sahana from GWA with a score of 21.
 
The Dubai Schools League will be back in action on December 8, 2014. The first tee-time starts at 4:00PM. The Track – Meydan is the official home of the Dubai Schools League.
