The Dubai Golf Summer Series comes to an end at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club
The Dubai Golf Summer Series culminated with the playing of the fourth and final event over the Dubai Creek Course. Arjun Gupta, a junior member at Emirates Golf Club, proved to strong for the rest of the field as he fired a sensational 41 points. A very strong display underlined by the fact that his score contained no fewer than 9 net birdies. Gupta’s score was enough to win by an impressive 3 points from Creek member Glory Xavier in 2nd and Vincent Buehler in 3rd. Both scored 38 points but Xavier prevailed thanks to a better inward half. One point further back with scores of 37 points was mother and son Harini and Asanka White. On this occasion Asanka edged his mum for fourth on the strength of his last six holes.
The gross prize was taken by amateur course record holder Miki Mirza. His level par round of 71 was a superb effort over a course set up in preparation for the upcoming MENA tour event.
The Summer Series, sponsored by GolfLan with support sponsors IP Global, Titleist and Worldwide Golf has proven to be a great success, this last event again attracting a full field of 104 players. This was the last chance in the four event series for golfers to accumulate order of merit points. The best 3 stableford scores from the Summer Series tournaments count towards the final standings in the order of merit.
The overall winner of the Summer Series Order of Merit and stand out perform was Arjun Gupta. His best three tournament scores of 39, 42 and 41 for a total of 122 points was simply to good for the rest of the field. Second place was secured by Suresh Shewakramani on 113 points and third was taken by Asanka White with 112 points.
