The Dubai Divots Golf Society was created in June 2010 by James Evans (Captain) and Scott Sigsworth (Competitions Secretary). We decided it would be a good idea to form a small society amongst a few friends, with the sole purpose of having a bit of competitive banter, a regular game of golf each month at a different course, whilst raising money for a good cause, with the added bonus of discounted group green fees.
From the outset we immediately had 20 friends and colleagues, who were interested in joining the Society. By the time of the first event at the Els Club in September 2010, the interest had grown considerably and we had a substantial Mailing List of over 50 people. For our first ever event we had 32 players turn out.
Although the Society was set up by two Engineers, the Divots come from all walks of life, from Engineers to Teachers, from Manufacturers to Media personnel, from Harare to Handsworth, but we all share one common passion, we are all Expats, we all love Dubai and we all love Golf!
