The Dubai Creek Senior’s Open 2013 results

The Ping Dubai Creek Senior’s Open took place this weekend with two rounds being played over Thursday 24th & Friday 25th October.

This annual event proved to be a great success again this year with over 100 players from across the region, and even one player travelling from England to compete for the prestigious title.

The players set out on day 1 all aiming to take full advantage of the stunning Dubai Creek course in an effort for victory.  After some great 1st round performances the top of the table looked very tight which would provide some exciting competition for day 2. Kennon Rider had the overnight lead after his 77, Naema Maya was one further back with 78 and defending champion John Fellingham was well in the hunt with his 79.  Unfortunate circumstances saw the overnight leader, Kennon Rider, disqualified on day 2 for missing his tee time and so the final group was down to two.  Despite a great charge from fellow member Ishwar Jodha, Fellingham proved to be a true champion, almost without fault on day two as he fired a superb 1 over-par 72 for a winning total of 151.  After being presented his prize Fellingahm commented; “I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved with this event for making it such a success once again. I’m very pleased to have defended my title successfully and I can’t wait to see the seniors champion board displayed in the clubhouse”.  Ishwar Jodha’s fantastic 73 on day 2 saw him take runner up spot with a total of 156 ahead of Mark Dennehy who finished 3rd with 161.

Thanks to the sponsors, PING, there was also 3 prizes up for grabs in the net division.  Topping this division with a fantastic 2 day total of net 141 was Jumeirah Golf estates member Annie Brown.  Just one shot back in runner up spot was Dubai Creek Lady Captain Maureen Platt with 142 and fellow Creek member Abdul Razak Meeran finished 3rd in the division with a total of 145.

After conducting the prize giving Dubai Creek’s Head Golf Professional Stephen Hubner commented; “It’s great to see such a positive turnout for this event once again along with some fantastic golf. A huge thank you to the sponsors, PING, for all of their support and we look forward to welcoming you all back again next year”
