The Desert Swing Door is upon the UAE once again

It's going to be a wonderful month of Golf in the Desert Swing

We are at that time of year again (where does the year go!) here in the UAE where Golf comes to the fore with some great events returning and putting the Global Golfing Spotlight firmly on back the region in the shape of the Desert Swing.

The next few weeks will again highlight how special the Desert Swing is in the Golfing Calendar. The confirmed world class line ups, the venues and perfect climate have us all ready up for something special.

A Festival of Golf

Tomorrow starts the month long ‘fest’ of desert golf with one of the Worlds best Pro Am’s, The Emirates Invitational which is based here in the UAE and created by the Abdullah Al Naboodah. This year it is even more special as it is being held at the superb Yas Links Golf Club in Abu Dhabi where 50 top pro’s are attending including, Westwood, Mcdowell, Clarke, Goosen and Rory just to name a few, it is almost a Major lined up!
Mcdowell

This event is almost a prelude to the HSBC Abu Dhabi Golf Championship which starts this Thursday down the road at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club. This year is another exciting field with Phil Mickleson making his ‘desert’ debut battling against the European might and last years’ winner Kaymer.

After the HSBC ADGC we have another now established event, the Saadiyat Beach Classic at the Saadiyat Island Golf course, where Gary Player hosts a celebrity filled event showcasing the new Abu Dhabi venue.

Return of Tiger

Rolling on to February and back in Dubai for the Omega Desert Classic, which is back with a bang and the return of Tiger. Really looking forward to this one and seeing Mr Woods back in the desert, maybe he will go visit his new course to give us the news on whether the course will still be built!
We must not forget sandwiched in between the 2 UAE Events are the Qatar Masters and the new Volvo Champions Event at the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain, expanding the swing to 4 quality outings for all our viewing.

After the excellent events last year, (including the DWC at Jumeirah) I am personally looking forward to these events, especially the Classic watching Tiger against our top European players, it’s going to be fascinating.

More updates, news and information coming from all the UAE Based Golfing events will be coming on UAE Golf Online, please follow us online and on social media for updates.
