Thai Airways win Dubai Open Pro Am honours at the Els Club Dubai

Thailand’s Chapchai Nirat guided Thai Airways to an impressive victory in the DUBAi Open Pro Am at The Els Club Dubai on Wednesday.

The winning team, which comprised Somchai Sukkhasantikul, Nanthavan Sukkhasantikul and Jehangir Mekhdum as amateurs, returned a fine 18-under-par score as the Jebel Ali Hotels team settled for second a shot adrift, beating the Emirates Airline team on a countback.

England’s Matt Fitzpatrick, who is also a ‘golf in DUBAi’ ambassador, spearheaded the Jebel Ali Hotels team in the company of Michael Harradine, Liam King and David Tobias while Dominic Foos of Germany led the Emirates Airline team that included Asim Arshad, Gurbax Singh and Shaz Peshiman as amateurs.

The DUBAi Open tees off on Thursday with the first three-ball going at 7.05 and the last at 12.40pm. Among the notables, Northern Ireland’s Darren Clarke is paired with Arjun Atwal of India and Faycal Serghini, the group going out at 11.50 am.
