Tee off in pink for breast cancer awareness at Abu Dhabi Golf Club

In support of breast cancer awareness month this October, Abu Dhabi Golf Club is hosting Pink Lady Golf Day to raise funds for the Cancer Research UK charity (www.jointhefight.org.uk). The tournament’s objective is to raise money for the battle against breast cancer while promoting women’s participation in the game of golf.

Cancer Research UK is an organization that is dedicated to saving the lives of millions by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. The organization makes the most impact through its support of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses across the UK to research all aspects of cancer; by providing information for cancer patients, their families, health professionals and the general public; organizing fundraising events worldwide and by influencing public policy to keep cancer at the top of the health agenda.

The fundraising effort, spearheaded by Michelle Larter, Event Organiser, has an imaginative Royal Wedding theme and the competition is open to women of all ages with encouragement that participants’ dress in pink. Contestants can combine their love of golf and creativity with a commitment to breast cancer research. Starting with a 12.30pm shotgun start, the event will be followed by a delicious buffet dinner at 6pm after which, there will be exciting prizes awarded to the best dressed team, best game of golf played and for the most amusing outfit worn. The theme will be an integral part of the dinner as the dessert will include a wedding cake, which will be cut by the winners. The format will be a team of 4 competition, and the entry fee for members is AED 150 and AED 395 for guests, inclusive of the 18 hole competition, cart hire, range balls, prize presentation and a satisfying evening meal in Qanas on the top floor of the Falcon Clubhouse. In addition, a raffle will be held with proceeds going to the charity.
