Superb Hyeonji Kang claims the 2019 Dubai Creek Junior Open

Dubai Creek Club member Hyeonji Kang was the winner of this year’s event after a great score of 69

The annual Dubai Creek Junior Open took place on Friday 29th at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, this prestigious event saw all the best local juniors battle it out over the 18 holes at Dubai Creek to be named the 2019 Champion. The sponsor for this event was PING who put forward some fabulous prizes for the winners. The course was presented in beautiful condition and some excellent scores were produced from the full field of talented juniors including Hyeonji Kang.

Hyeonji Kang, a Dubai Creek Club member was the winner of this year’s event after a superb score of 69 (-2). Kang’s round was a tale of two halves, after starting with two bogies and making the turn in plus two, she went on a birdie run late in her back nine to finish with a four under par back nine to shoot two under par. Kang has had an amazing season so far winning all seven of the Ladies Open’s in the region; she really is going to be a star. Kang secured a three stroke victory over her nearest competitor, Asanka White who finished with a 72 (+1). In third position was Jay Mullane who finished with 73 (+2). In the Net category it was Alistair Hess who was victorious after a superb net score of 67 (-4). Runner up in this category was Dominic Morton who just missed out on the overall spot due to Hess’s better back nine. Third position in this category was claimed by Lara El-Chaib whose 69 (-2) beat Dubai Creek Member Nikhil Bhatia because of her better back nine

There were two on course Nearest the Pin prizes on the 8th and 14th holes which were won by Hannah Alan & Saransh Raina respectively.

After the prize presentation, Dubai Creek’s Golf Services Manager, Michael Major commented; “Congratulations to all the winners, it was a very competitive event as always and it is great to see such great talent on show! A huge thank you to PING for sponsoring the event.”
