Sum Raised for Dreamflight Charity at Royal Golf Club

Over 50 players braved humid conditions to compete in the 2010 Dreamflight charity golf event at the Royal Golf Club raising over BD700 for the charity. The individual stableford tournament tested players’ ability with different forfeits on each hole deciding how much was personally donated to Dreamflight.

The winner of category one for handicaps of 0 to 15 was David Wales with 39 points and Anne Timmers won the second category for handicaps of 16 – 36 with 41 points.

Category one runner up Rob Lane narrowly missed taking the top spot, losing on a count back to Wales on the back nine holes.  Second place in the second category was won by Hilde Kwik with 35 points.

Royal Golf Club Vice Captain Ed Daly achieved a superb eagle on the 9th hole and Kirby Wedewer claimed the nearest the pin prize on the par 3 7th hole.

“We are delighted to support Dreamflight in their fundraising efforts,” commented Phil Jones, the Royal Golf Club’s Director of Golf Operations at the tournament prize-giving ceremony.

“I would like to thank Debbie Beedie and her team of volunteers from the Dreamflight charity for their help on the day. Thanks must also go to the corporate sponsors of the event – Batelco, African & Eastern and Berlitz Language Centre, and to the many players who made personal donations on the day.”

In response Debbie Beedie said: “'Thank you to everyone at the Royal Golf Club. Their commitment to Dreamflight over the past 10 years has contributed to changing the lives of 20 very special Bahraini children.”
