Stojanovski clinches play off win in the Emirates Amateur Open 2012
Peter Stojanovski holed a birdie putt on the famous 18th hole of the Majlis course to win a two hole play off and the Emirates Amateur Open sponsored by Omega.
Heading into the final round of this prestigious event he trailed 36-hole leader James Donaldson by three strokes but a superb final round 70 saw him post a club house lead at 218, one over par. His closest challengers were in the final group and Emirates member Michael Harradine needed to birdie the last to force a sudden death play off, which he did so with a 15-foot birdie on the 18th. The first play off hole was halved with par fours on the 17th hole and both players hit excellent approaches to the last giving them makeable birdie chances. Harradine went first and missed leaving the youngster from Cabramatta Golf Club, Sydney for a championship winning put which he duly slotted home for victory.
Peter won his home Club Championship at the age of 15 in 2010 and now two years on he has clinched the Emirates Amateur Open sponsored by Omega following in the footsteps of Peter Hanson and Michael Hoey, both European Tour stars with their name on the trophy.
James Donaldson from Rinkven Golf Club in Belguim, despite being away from the game for several months, produced excellent rounds of 75, 70 and 75 to take third place. Jack Colgate representing Rochester and Gibham Golf Club signed for a 73 on the Faldo course followed by a pair of 74s on the Majlis to take fourth place from Charlie Wilson in fifth.

Emirates Golf Club welcomed new sponsors on board this year with Omega continuing their fantastic sponsorship of golf in the region following the success of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters and Omega Dubai Desert Classic. The top five finishers will receive corporate hospitality at the Professional championships and Peter will have the opportunity to compete in the Pro Am of his choice.
The 23rd edition of the Championship saw 137 players tee up representing 56 golf clubs from 16 different countries.
