Singh and Hartzuiker are Crowned Champions at Arabian Ranches Golf Club Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup

Gurbax Singh and Kees Hartzuiker were crowned Overall Champions in their respective Stableford and Gross Divisions at the Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup held at the Arabian Ranches Golf Club on Saturday, 8th September. Seventy players competed in the event which was open to Men, 50 years and above and Ladies, 45 years and above. Each player used their handicap index as the allowance to be taken at the appropriate stroke index holes.

The card of Gurbax Singh, was very impressive, with 5 gross pars and a gross birdie. A front nine of 26 points followed by a back nine of 19 gave him a win by 4 Stableford points from Jett Smith on 41 points. Smith settled for the Men’s Division title winning by 1point over Nigel Fenwick.

Kees Hartzuiker a Member of the ARGC Scratch League winning squad fired a four over par 76 to win the best gross by two shots. Hartzuiker was on fire and took advantage of a short course layout with a consistent outward and inward score of 38 and 38.

In the Ladies Division home player Annie Hainey returned a well balance card of 40 with nine’s of 19 and 21 to edge out Karen Evans by virtue of the count back also having a consistent round of 20 and 20 points.

Commenting on the turnout and standard of play, Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free said: “This is the 15th running of the seniors’ tournament and we had some incredible scoring today. Our thanks to all our participants and to the Arabian Ranches Golf Course for their efforts in ensuring a great day was had by all.”

Francois Wolfaardt – ARGC thanked Dubai Duty Free for their sponsorship support of the event and the 70 players from all over the UAE for attending.
