With the experience of working worldwide in many different countries. Simon, a British national, has lived in Australia for the last 20 years and is married to his wife Amanda. Together they have three children.

“We are excited to bring Simon on board to direct two of our most prestigious events,” commented Greg Sproule, Chief Executive Officer of Falcon & Associates. “His passion for the sport and his wealth of experience in golf event management will help make sure that both events continue to be highlighted within both the Dubai and the global golfing calendar. Simon’s accomplishments also go beyond golf, as he has run large-scale Openair Cinema events for Fairfax Events and Entertainment across Australia and New Zealand, as well as other events such as the Australian Open of Surfing, Taste Events and the Sydney International ATP and WTA tennis event. The appointment will follow David Spencer’s retirement in early May 2019. Sproule continued, “After 8 years on the Omega Dubai Desert Classic organizing committee and then 6 years as Tournament Director, it is with a heavy heart that I share that David will be retiring in early May. David has done incredible things not only for Dubai, but for both of our tournaments, and it will be hard to say farewell to him. His creativity, his passion and his commitment to doing nothing but the very best for our players, guests, staff and for Dubai is unparalleled.”

David Spencer will continue to develop the MENA Tour in the region, but he and his wife Julia will spend much of their time in Thailand and travel to visit their children and grandchildren.

David Howell, the 1999 Omega Dubai Desert Classic Champion and Chairman of the Players Committee of European Tour, stated: “On behalf of the players we would like to thank David for his work at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic. He’s always done an incredible job looking after all of us, both during the tournament and on other visits. He leaves on a high note with the 30th edition of the tournament looking better than it ever has. We wish him well on his retirement.”
