Siddaway and Shepherd produce wonder round at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club July BMW

Mike Siddaway and partner Brian Shepherd produced an unbelievable display of teamwork in the recent BMW Members & Guests Social played at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club on Friday 26th July.

Having opted to play in the afternoon shotgun, Siddaway & Shepherd were confronted with an 11 under round of net 61 when booking in, however that superb score posted in the mornings round didn’t deter them and they combined wonderfully to shoot two nines of 31 & 30, therefore managing to match the 11 under and claim victory by virtue of a scorecard playoff. The pair dovetailed well over the first 9, but Shepherd who plays his golf mainly at Jebel Ali came into his own on the back nine as he notched up 5 net birdies over the final 5 holes, including holing a nerve-wracking 6 footer on the last knowing it was for the outright victory.

The pair of Suresh Shewkramani & Nishith Patel who played in the morning who had posted their 11 under couldn’t believe their eyes as they later found out they had lost what seemed to be their title. They didn’t go away empty handed however, as they won the front 9 Shambles format in the morning. With British pairing William Neilson & Edward Kolber picking up the mornings back 9 prize after shooting a delightful 7 under net 29, which is a timely return to form for the duo.

The afternoons front 9 prize went to the star partnership of the day Siddaway & Shepherd who’s 31 was one shot clear of the low handicap team of Mike Robson and Tristan Webster. With the back 9 better ball format going to Ian Wilson & Rory Thomson, both combining well to shoot an excellent 5 under 31 net.
