Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club Captains Season Opener

Tom Badger, husband of Claire Badger (SGSC Golf Business Development Manager) lifted the winning trophy in the inaugural SGSC Captains Season Opener. For the first time in the clubs history there have been 2 club captains installed to take charge of the 2012/13 season, they are long standing SGSC members Mel and Jacqui Stewart. With a few interesting extras for golfers to gain stableford points with the help from the in-coming captains Badger finished with a total of 44 points piping Gary Langthorne to Overall winning position. Langthorne had to settle for winning Division A, with some much improved golf. Division B award went to Mark Dupree, who makes a long awaited return to the winners enclosure with a final score of 42 points. The best lady on the day was Nicola Milton who also scooped 42 points and blitzed the ladies division by a whopping 8 points. Quite surprising Keith Smithard picked up both the Longest Drive and Nearest The Pin awards proving he has both the length and accuracy to play the game.

The four winners all picked up commemorative plaques whilst Smithard secured a couple of dozen golf balls for his efforts. Martin Duff Director Of Golf commented ‘What a fantastic day with a full shotgun present to welcome our first ever Club Captains Mel & Jacqui Stewart into office, both members and staff wish them a wonderful year as Captains here at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club’.
